Pinkerton AI ("we", "us") operates a privacy-first, anonymous AI chat service. This policy explains what limited data we process, why, and the choices you have. By using the service you agree to this policy.
1. Anonymous by design
You can use Pinkerton AI without creating an account and without providing an email, name, or phone number. Your session is identified by a random anonymous ID stored locally in your browser. We do not ask for, and do not knowingly collect, data that directly identifies you.
2. Data we process
- Technical data: we temporarily process your IP address to create and recover anonymous sessions, enforce rate limits, and prevent abuse and fraud. It is not used to build a personal profile.
- Session data: an anonymous session ID, credit/token balance, subscription status and language preference, stored to operate the service.
- Conversation content: the prompts and files you submit are transmitted to our third-party AI provider to generate a response. We do not sell this content and do not use it to advertise to you.
- Uploaded files: files you attach (e.g. PDFs, images) are encrypted client-side using AES-GCM before being stored in our cloud storage. The encryption key remains in your browser and is never sent to our servers, ensuring zero-knowledge encryption. Files are decrypted only when needed for processing by our AI providers.
- Payment data: card payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your full card number. Cryptocurrency payments are settled on-chain via your wallet.
3. Cookies & local storage
We use browser local storage to keep your anonymous session and preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
4. Third-party processors
We rely on the following providers, who process data on our behalf:
- Venice AI — AI model inference (processes your prompts).
- Stripe — card payment processing.
- Supabase — database, authentication of anonymous sessions, and file storage.
- Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
- Firecrawl — fetching web results when you use web search.
5. Retention
We keep data only as long as needed to operate the service. We do not retain a browsable history of your conversations on our servers. Technical and anti-abuse data are kept for a short period. Uploaded files and payment/subscription records are kept as required to provide the service and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EU/EEA under the GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because the service is anonymous, we may be unable to identify your data without additional information from you. To exercise your rights, contact us (section 9).
7. International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, such transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards.
8. Children
The service is intended for adults only and is not directed to anyone under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly process data of minors.
